After years of investigations, legal challenges, protests, and advocacy, an agreement was reached in spring 2026 to transfer approximately 1,500 of the dogs into rescue care.

The enormous undertaking required several animal-welfare organizations working together. Dogs were transported to rescue groups around the country for veterinary examinations, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, rehabilitation, foster care, and eventual adoption.

Beagle Freedom Project reports that it oversaw the placement of 568 of the Ridglan beagles. Among them are dogs like Roadie, who is learning to enjoy sunbathing, soft beds, neighborhood “sniffaris,” and the company of her new canine siblings.

For others, adjustment will take considerably longer. Mabel reportedly spent nearly a decade confined and repeatedly bred. She arrived in foster care frightened and withdrawn, but with patience and the reassuring presence of other dogs, she has gradually begun exploring her yard and learning that she is safe.

These dogs have not simply changed addresses. Many are encountering home life for the first time. Stairs, televisions, leashes, toys, household sounds, and even open outdoor spaces may be completely unfamiliar. Their progress will require patient families willing to let each dog move forward at an individual pace.

The Ridglan rescue is a story worth celebrating—but it is also a reminder of the many animals whose lives remain hidden from public view.

After years spent inside cages, these beagles are finally being given something every dog deserves: the chance to discover what being a beloved companion feels like.

Learn more about the rescue, see updates on the dogs, or contribute toward their continuing medical care through the Beagle Freedom Project’s Ridglan Farms page.

After years inside a Wisconsin breeding facility, approximately 1,500 beagles are discovering grass, soft beds, loving families, and life beyond a cage.

[1
4,6,7
post-131","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","tag-beagle-freedom-project","tag-beagle-rescue","tag-ridglan-farms
["GET
